Top 5 Most Popular Henna Tattoo Designs

Top 5 Most Popular Henna Tattoo Designs

As a henna artist, my clients will sometimes bring up photos of henna tattoo designs they want done that are by other henna artists or henna designs I have done in the past and most of the time the work they show me I have seen before. They will usually pull up images via Pinterest or Google Images . So I thought it would be fun to compile a list of the 5 most popular henna tattoo designs. I am also somewhat of a social science enthusiast so I know that a big factor that goes into what people like and what catches their eye is not only the henna design, but also the photo styling i.e. colors, placement, surroundings. It’s fascinating to me when I see the same images time and time again as I think to myself “what is it about this photo in particular that people love?” I have a drawing that I did a few years back that has really been very popular and about 10 ladies have had it tattooed on them (that I know of) – you can read more about that very popular tattoo design here as well as other tattoos I have designed . *Note – I will be giving proper credit to these lovely henna artists when I know whom to give credit to. If there is no credit given, it’s just because I’m unaware of who did it so PLEASE let me know if you know who created it!  I will be sure to make the proper corrections.

Number 5

Most Popular Henna Tattoo Designs

The Henna Sleeve

I would say about 25% of client coming into the studio request a full henna tattoo sleeve design. These are lovely and end up coming out quite nice. And most of the time clients are using this to test out a tattoo they would like to have and using henna to envision having that much tattoo coverage on their skin. Henna is a great way to test out tattoo designs.

Henna Floral Design

This is a design I did several years ago. The beauty of this henna design is that it is universal –  it can be applied almost anywhere on the body. I have done this same floral henna tattoo on the arm, hand, chest, and back. ivermectin sheep drench for chickens Originally this design was created as a lower back henna tattoo. I am glad it has stood the test of time as has been repinned on Pinterest over 6,000 times!

Number 3

Most Popular Henna Tattoo Designs

The Shoulder Cap Tattoo

This design is by the incomparable Darcy Vasudev of Henna Lounge and I see it many times from clients as a henna tattoo inspiration. (Side note – I’ve been getting my organic henna supplies from Darcy’s shop Henna Guru for over 6 years and I can’t say enough positive things about the customer service and quality of product!) A shoulder henna design is very popular because it can be a hidden place to get henna if you have a job that doesn’t allow for visible tattoos but it is also the perfect place to highlight your henna design with a sleeveless dress, swimsuit, or tank top.

Number 2

Most Popular Henna Tattoo Designs

The Glove Style Henna Design

Many of my clients request this style – the henna glove hand tattoo. What is important to do with this type of design is the symmetrical point that ends midway down the hand and the henna finger details where it looks like rings. To make this design really POP – get a lovely manicure with a pink or red polish color. oh yes!

The Asymmetrical Henna Hand Design

And of course, if you’ve been a henna artist for more than a day, you have come across this design by Henna By Divya. It seems to have everything a client is looking for – intricacy, movement, finger details, and floral elements so can you blame people for choosing this design time and time again? I certainly can’t! Great capture with the proper manicure, delicate pinky ring, and flawless application of henna. Well done Divya!

Henna for Bohemian Wedding Photoshoot

Henna for Bohemian Wedding Photoshoot

This was an amazingly fun &  beautiful shoot out together by us at Henna by Kelly Caroline and Meaghan with Birch Affair . Birch Affair did the visual art and decor styling for the vintage bohemian wedding photoshoot we envisioned. The venue we went with was Ypsilanti Freighthouse which is a beautifully restored vintage train station that is open for weddings and special events in my hometown of Ypsilanti, Michigan. The photography for our wedding shoot is by the very talented Tana Helene Photography
For the henna for the bride, I met with her three days prior to the photoshoot so I could ensure the best outcome for her henna stain. The henna powder I used was from Henna Guru . I did my normal henna recipe but then I added jagua juice to the mix that I got from Henna Guru . After I applied their henna designs, I waited for them to dry and then I applied Mefix tape to their designs. Mefix tape is such an awesome product – it adheres to the skin but doesn’t smudge the dried henna design- instead it holds it in place allowing the body’s natural heat to make the henna darker and stay on the skin longer. The jagua henna mixture came out so lovely and dark on all the models. It was a beautiful henna day !
Once we had the core of our team – photography, visuals, & decor stylist, we moved forward with the rest of our team. Meaghan brought on Fudge Beauty for make up for the models and Unwind Salon for the hair styling. We were so pleased with both of their talents  and then pairing the clothing from Birch & Elm and the handmade jewelry for my favorite jewelry artist Courtney Fischer Jewelry made the perfect boho feel.
To complete our vintage, boho wedding look, Birch Affair reached out to Rose Marine Textiles for our linens, napkins, and table runners. Rose Marine Textiles hand dyes all of her textiles that she uses *swoon* . Our fantastic table wasn’t complete without the handmade ceramic of Make Do Studio which I just loved. The plates and bowls were so beautiful and tactile but delicate ah! The Good Rug was our source for rugs and pillows for our lounge areas and Jessica & Co Vintage is our main gal for all the seating & lovely vintage furniture ! Gigi & Laclede is where we found the glassware and filled it with the tasty wine from Vintners Canton Winery and on those plates from Make Do Studio we were sure to include the pastries from Good Cupcakes who made a gorgeous naked cake filled flavored with lavender and tea cupcakes mmmm!
Detroit Bridal House had the most beautiful wedding dresses for us to choose from so we went with what the bride Brittany Miller loved the most which was a modern take on a classical vintage look. She put together the skirt from Detroit Bridal House and a sweet little black silk blouse for her reception look and a gorgeous gown for her ceremony. Brittany and Kevin Smigeilski, our bride & groom, are engaged in real life and are the founders of Shock The World – an organization for strengthening community with Jesus-looking love. Their events are based in Detroit, Michigan.
The amount of talent at this photoshoot was unreal! I am so thankful I got to be around all these creative individuals all at the same time – it has given me a creative buzz that I’ve been coasting on all week.

Permanent Tattoo Designing

Permanent Tattoo Designing

Hello Everyone! Here in Michigan we have been blessed with more and more sunshine lately, allowing us all to enjoy being outside more! I do love this time of the year. My flower garden is starting to sprout and I’m looking forward to a long growing season.

In other news, lately especially, I have been getting 1-2 requests per week for permanent tattoo designing for ladies as well as copyright requests for drawn art I have done to be permanently done by professional tattoo artists. I have always had clients at the salon have henna done at the salon to test out a permanent tattoo, which is a great idea.

I love that my art can touch individuals in such a way that they want to have it forever. I want to share a few emails I have gotten lately about permanent tattoo designing :

“I have absolutely fallen in love with one of your henna tattoo designs and I am actually interested in having it permanently tattoo-ed on my body” -B.K.

“This design catches my eye because it is like a Mandala, but very nature/floral which is something that is absolutely me. It is a beautiful reminder of how complex we are as human creatures, so beautiful and elegant, like flowers – and yet so connected to earth, simple, organic, fragile, like flowers.” – Brittany

“I would love for you to design something fun for me! I want to get it on the top of my foot. I definitely want it to be circular. A little bit about me that may help design– I am a yoga teacher so I work barefoot. I LOVE elephants!” -S.K

“Kelly! I LOVE THIS!! Thank you so much. I am making an appointment somewhere around Ann Arbor for the end of April/May. I will definitely keep you posted and give you credit in all social media posts. Again, thank you so much. I really appreciate this. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to promote you” – K

“First I’d like to tell you I absolutely adore your work. Every piece is just gorgeously done. I’m interested in tattooing one/two of your designs on my hip. I’d like permission to do that. I’d be looking to join two pieces together for the whole tattoo.” – Marisa

“I just wanted to share that I got one of your designs as a tattoo last April! I get sooooo many compliments! Love it!” – Whitney

“I saw it on Pinterest and fell in love. I looked at it for a month and I realized I’ld love to have it on my body forever. I now have seen it on my body these past couple day and I love it even more!”  – Amanda

*Blush* Thank you ladies – those words touch me deeply. Thank you!

Here are some photos of the henna tattoo designs of mine that have been turned into permanent tattoo designs and drawings that have been made into permanent tattoo designs as well.
