Happy Spring everyone! Starting to see more skin lately, here in the great state of Michigan. The majority of the Arctic weather has about passed here and once again it is the beginning of sandal & tank top weather which means the salon is starting to be buzzing with clients once again.
Lately the majority of my clients have been lovely mothers-to-be getting baby belly henna, pregnancy henna, prenatal henna (whatever you call it, it is so adorable!) I have said it before and I’ll say it again, as a henna artist in Michigan, one of my favorite henna designs is prenatal henna – mandalas henna designs, tree henna tattoos, floral henna – all of it is so fun!
Check out my latest henna tattoos for pregnant women . For the first one here, this is the second time I have gotten to do a henna design for this mother. The first time she was carrying twins with this tree design some of you might remember
This time around, she wanted a tree, but since it wasn’t twins, she wanted a similar design.
We did a single tree design with 5 flowers around it, symbolizing each member of her growing family. So sweet.
At her appointment, she had a few friends gathering around her as her support group. They each got henna tattoos done as well. Here are a few:
Another fun appointment lately was for a set of two good friends who were about 3 weeks apart in their pregnancy so they decided to get henna tattoos together to celebrate their upcoming births.
One of the women chose to have a mandala henna tattoo with a floral theme.
Her friend chose also a symmetrical mandala design but with an OHM symbol in the center to represent peace for her birth.
And for my favorite picture, here is a very lovely picture of the two mommies together with their prenatal henna designs

Here’s a fun baby belly design I did at the salon. Her husband surprised her with a great gift – getting her baby belly decorated with henna for their 3rd child’s birth – so fun! Here’s her baby belly henna design .
She wanted 5 flowers – one for each member of her family.Read More

What a fun day! Two henna belly designs at the salon today. Two friends who just happened to become pregnant around the same time decided it would be fun to get their bellies henna-ed together in celebration . They chose a matching design they found online- from Blue Lotus Henna, I believe. I really enjoyed doing the design that twice in a row was a-okay for me. Henna belly designs are some of my favorite henna designs to do.
This henna design for the belly is a pretty flower mandala – a design I really like because flowers make me happy .
Here are the pictures of the two matching designs – enjoy!
Tis the season for baby bellies ! I had a great opportunity to do a fun baby belly design and henna tattoos for a party at the same time here in Ann Arbor at the Bead Gallery . The mommy-to-be was having a boy so she wanted a sun for her son , but still some flowers so I did a “son-flower” (sunflower) design with floral elements around it.
We also did henna tattoos on both her hands to compliment her baby belly design :: see more baby belly designs here
A fun floral mehndi design from the finger to the wrist .
One henna tattoo design for the top of the hand and one for the palm – complimentary designs of paisley and florals
And the last impromptu design, which I found to be the most fun to be creative with ! I rarely will apply henna to the face, but she wanted it SO badly – and I think it looked super cute xoxo

Have I mentioned how much I love to do baby belly henna designs ? ? Why.. yes, I have. This past week I have had three baby belly henna designs to do. Here are photos from my most recent client who came to the salon. She is at that perfect time to have henna designs on your belly – that 30 – 37 week mark. Just in time to have her photoshoot session, too. She and and her friend who drove her were lovely. Plus, her friend got in on some henna action, too .
For the baby belly design, she wanted it to be less of a circular, mandalla design and more flowing henna design with flowers including a henna peacock . This is what I came up with. I think she really liked it.
It makes me so happy to see others happy from my art : )

Here is another baby belly henna with butterflies and flowers. This momma to be is 37 weeks along, the perfect time to have your baby belly henna design done so it most likely will still be visible when your baby is born.
Today I had the opportunity to do one of my favorite gigs – a baby belly henna design at a belly blessing ceremony / henna party in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The pregnant belly is such a beautiful canvas. Today all the ladies there were incredibly nice and complimentary.
The design she choose was a large mandala flower and she wanted to incorporate orchid lady slipper flowers in the design, too. I suggested we place one on either side of her belly, and she just loved it. The orchid design is a replication of her mother’s lady slipper orchid tattoo so that was really special. All the other ladies at the party got simple henna designs done so they could carry a piece of the ceremony with them as they left.

Today at my salon I met a very nice client, mother to be who was on her way to her Indian-style baby shower in Ohio . She stopped by my salon over way to have her henna for pregnancy done for her hands. She selected a baby henna design for the palms with a baby in a carriage and the on her other hand, she wanted baby symbols like a rattle, blocks, a bottle and a pacifier in henna. She was very happy and her husband was, too.

Henna Party Michigan – Baby Belly
This weekend I got to be apart of a very special henna party for a lovely pregnant girl and do henna on her baby belly. She’s having twins and her family & friends from New York & Tulsa flew/drove in to be apart of her celebration. I felt a lot of love at this henna party. All the guests got some henna done on their hands or feet and sat and watched the mommy-to-be get her belly decorated with a tree design that she found online. Enjoy!Read More

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE to decorate pregnant bellies with henna? Since its usually a large area I am designing on, my clients and I get to chat about babies, toys, diapers and all that fun stuff. Another amazing aspect of doing henna for a baby belly is getting so see little feet & arm movements while you’re working. So adorable. Well, here is a boy baby belly design I recently did. The mommy-to-be loves lines and dots & flowers, but she wanted It to represent her little boy, so she choose a cute elephant for the middle instead of the floral design.
It took about 45 minutes to complete.
